Alternative types of certification under CRP

In an effort to streamline certification and minimize barriers to entry for products into the certified ratings program, AMCA has developed alternative 'types' of certification which provide common-sense guidelines for transferring product certifications between manufacturers and brands. For more information, check AMCA Publication 11, Section 8 or contact the CRP department at [email protected]. CRP staff will assist with the process to certify.

These alternatives—and information outlining when, where, and how they are appropriate— are highlighted below:

CRP A (Ai and As)

Aerodynamically identical or similar

When is CRP Ai appropriate?

When a member has two identical products with different names, a CRP Ai can be used.

How do you certify?

  1. Licensee submits the application and the catalog.
  2. No additional testing is involved to certify
  3. No further verification tests to maintain certification

When is a CRP As used?

When a Licensee’s product is similar to another product already certified by the same Licensee.

How do you certify?

  1. Licensee submits the application and the catalog.
  2. No precertification test is required. However, Licensee submits sufficient data to verify the products are in fact similar.
  3. Verification tests is required to maintain certification.

CRP B

Brand name

When is CRP B appropriate?

When a member sells an identical product from another company's inventory, however they market it with their name on the product— they have branded the product to their company.

How do you certify?

  1. Licensee submits the application and the catalog.
  2. No additional testing is involved to certify
  3. No further verification tests to maintain certification

CRP L

Licensed manufacture

When is CRP L appropriate?

A subsidiary, auxiliary, affiliates joint venture and/or joint venture partner, Licensee or franchisee of a company can apply for certification if the Licensee manufactures products of the same design and construction as the certified product.

How do you certify?

  1. Licensee submits the application and the catalog.
  2. Only one size from one product line shall be chosen for the precertification test, regardless of the number of product lines submitted for certification at any one time.
  3. Verification tests is required to maintain certification.

CRP M

Subsidiary manufacture

When is CRP M appropriate?

A subsidiary company may certify products (same design and construction) from its parent company. The parent company who has sole design authority will have to authorize and submit the CRP form.

How do you certify?

  1. Licensee submits the application and the catalog.
  2. Only one size from one product line shall be chosen for the precertification test, regardless of the number of product lines submitted for certification at any one time.
  3. The number of products submitted for verification test shall be equal to the number of products certified by the Licensee under CRP-M divided by five, rounded up to the nearest whole number.
