To ensure AMCA and its members are properly informed about and represented in legislative, regulatory, and compliance arenas

Objectives

  • Legislative and regulatory engagement
  • Standards development and harmonization
  • Publications and position paper
  • Industry relations

Tactics

  • FEI North America – Continued support for the adoption of FEI in North America. Includes the completion of FEI in California, potential regulations in states after California, and the start-up of support for rebate programs.
  • ISO – Harmonization of AMCA 207 and 208 with ISO 12759, AMCA 300 and 320 with ISO 13347 (focusing on end reflection), ISO adoption of AMCA 240, air curtain technical report, and system effect technical report
  • Statistical Program – Revamp and introduce
  • Advocacy Manager – Allows us to expand our scope of coverage of advocacy issues in North America
  • Industry Relations – Focus on relationships with other associations in our industry, particularly with associations with interests aligned with AMCA
  • Develop Advocacy Briefs – Similar to FAQ sheets or product cut sheets that state the AMCA position
  • FEI International – Promotion of FEI in Asia and the Middle East

To ensure products perform as specified and that the marketplace is knowledgeable of certification process.

The CRP initiative is divided in three major areas: program (changes that need to be reviewed and voted on by the membership), process (things that staff can do independently to make the program easier), and enforcement (greater scrutiny from staff into areas that have been identified as problematic).

Objectives

  • Enhance reach and availability of product and lab certification
  • Make program easier to understand
  • Process improvement
  • Better enforcement

Tactics

  • AMCA Publication 11 – Review and revise. Changes envisioned by staff would simplify and close loopholes. (Program)
  • Lab and CRP Staff Communication – The upgrade of the database exposed areas where communication between these two departments need improvement. These meetings have been initiated and will be ongoing for the foreseeable future. (Process)
  • FEI Bubble Calculator – Develop and distribute an Excel program to calculate a fan’s compliant range. (Process)
  • Motor Calibration Facility Upgrade – Improves our motor calibration capability, intended to support FEI certification. Shown as zero incremental spend due to the fact that the Board had previously approved this project. $20 is for depreciation. (Process)
  • Lab 210 Software – Upgrade of software to calculate test results. Accommodates FEI. (Process)
  • Proactive Violation Search – Staff has been advised that fan selection programs sometimes produce enhanced performance over what had been approved by AMCA. (Enforcement)
  • AMCA Standard 301 Calculator – An Excel program to calculate sound data from test results. (Process)
  • CRP A, B, L, M – Develop web and marketing resources to educate members in taking advantage of using these certification paths. (Program)

To improve the understanding and performance of air systems throughout the industry.

Objectives

  • Develop online training curriculum of modules and seminars
